In WVO’s most recent newspaper (Vol. 4, No. 2) their continuing Philistinism around the China question reaches its foulest level so far! It stinks like something dead for quite awhile but not buried . . . like a dead Parrot, as a matter of fact... its “wings” still not mercifully interred. Bury that Wing WVO, it stinks!
WVO still, like the so called “Revolutionary Wing”, a dead duck if there ever was one, parrots the overthrown Gang of Four. Ever since the Gang’s overthrow, WVO has kept rolling its eyes and ducking its head, but never said anything direct or open. But it whispered to us that it thought, the “comrades in China are making errors”, but it would never come out. Now it is beginning to show its love of dead things by coming out with an attack on China, yet it is careful to keep it all low key and muffled.
The editorial, What Is To Be Done in WVO newspaper is a treacherous example of how “Left” sectarians, fearful of the reaction of the masses to their babble, infer, whisper, imply, slander, yet still want to be considered not only genuine Marxist-Leninists, but the leading circle. Nay, they continue to call themselves “The Party”. Now that is real subjectivism! Bah. Humbug. Genuine forces in WVO should identify themselves immediately by attacking their revisionist leading leadership, and speaking out clearly of their support for the Peoples Republic of China, Vice Premier Teng Hsiao Ping, the 4 Modernizations, and the Normalization of relations between the U.S. & China, and for Marxism-Leninism-Mao Tse Tung Thought. WVO’s backwardness consists fundamentally of Gang of 4 type subjectivism and dogmatism (despite criticisms by comrades that WVO is not “left”, but conscious Rightists, therefore political swindlers). WVO uses Lenin’s great essay What Is To Be Done, and tries to twist it into the shape of WVO’s subjective pseudo-theoretical phrasemongering, and of course they are unsuccessful.
The Gang of Four stifling of socialist democracy is well documented. The Red Guards in 1967 during the height of the Cultural Revolution accused them of being anti-democratic and Trotskyist (See Shanghai Journal, and Chairman Mao Speaks To The People). Their “All Around Dictatorship” was a dictatorship over the people, highhanded, and with ultra “left” justification. Their attempt to suppress the Chinese masses outpouring of sentiment for Premier Chou is well known–it led to the Tienanmen Square incident. WVO tries to equate the recent calls of more democracy for the people now coming out from under the Go4 dictatorship as the revisionists “Freedom of Criticism”, which was really the freedom to revise Marxism, which Lenin pointed out, and defeated. Absolute mindlessness and subjectivism.
WVO also cannot stomach the Chinese Communist Party fighting against dogmatism and metaphysics since they feel a draft as well. When the Chinese say, “practice is the sole criterion of truth”, it shakes WVO and all dogmatists and metaphysicians, because they would have us believe, as WVO, especially, but as the dead duck wing, that theory is the only criterion of truth. But Comrades, (and we are using this word because we still have some hope that there are genuine forces treading water with WVO’s Swampketeers, who will fight to transform it, or swim away) read ON PRACTICE, please! Theory should guide practice but it cannot be substituted for practice. If JT tells us he can walk through a wall, we want to see it!
Conditions actually do change WVO, change is the only constant! Our practice only remains scientific if it takes this into consideration. There is no theoretical chaos in the Peoples Republic of China, in WVO there is a great deal. Teng Hsiao Ping was chosen by Mao to handle the day to day business of leading the country, the Gang of Four intervened, and though it is true that Vice Premier Teng made errors (as has everyone else, except PRRWO and RWL, that’s why they don’t exist anymore), the Communist Party of China and its Central Committee saw fit to restore him to his posts. (Has there been a coup in China, WVO?) WVO says about Vice Premier Teng, that he is “a traitor”, why because he made mistakes... that would make us all traitors! Is WVO “a traitor” because it put out the “Revisionist Premises”? or pushed ”Unite To Expose,” or united with PRRWO & RWL? Be serious. WVO is very gullible. Apparently they’ve been trying to learn Marxism from the New York Times again. The normalization of relations between the Peoples Republic of China and the United States was laid out clearly by Mao. Mao said that the U.S. would finally have to recognize China. Why don’t you great theorists at WVO read the actual document normalizing relations. The Chinese did not give up anything. The withdrawal of U.S. troops from Taiwan, the abrogation of the military pact between the U.S. and Taiwan, the recognition of PRC as the only gov’t of China, these are victories for the masses of the world. Only a superlefty or a superrighty could oppose these. The U.S. has been trying to show China as revisionist (which WVO doesn’t even have the courage to spit out) because it hides the fact that, the U.S., left their old buddies the Kai Shek clique in the lurch, high and dry. So now they have to fill the airwaves with a cover story that China is no longer a socialist country.
Vice Premier Teng’s visit to the U.S. was a great triumph for the people learned more about China, its policies, the danger of World War 3 and the Social Imperialist USSR than they have ever before! The normalization, the visit, and the modernization are important to the people. WVO, don’t you know that the dictatorship of the proletariat must rest on an economic base, that socialism is a mode of production, an economic system. Contrary to the Go4 which saw socialism as phrases to be mongered which the Wing parroted & WVO continues to mouth. Why are you opposed to a modern socialist country? It’s like hippies canonizing poverty. WW3 is on the way WVO, and the United Front against the superpowers, and especially to isolate and head off the USSR in its warmongering is eminently correct. Kampuchea should prove this, as we watch the Vietnamese underhegemones stalk into empty Kampuchean cities animated by the Soviet Union’s superhegemones. Taking this into consideration the drive to modernize China by the end of the century (which Mao called for) is not only correct, but critical!
WVO’s subjectivism, and garbage slanders must be repudiated, and opposed by Genuine Marxist-Leninists. We see the spectacle of the so called “RCP”, who the bourgeoisie calls “MAOISTS” to hide their own exit from Taiwan . . and we know about the Trotlike Cousml and Sunrise, and MLO’s (CPUSAML!) joining the Soviet Social Imperialist & Trots in condemning China and now WVO is stumbling and trotting down a dismal subjectivist road WVO come to your senses before it’s too late!!
