Submitted by the Progressive Arab Students in North America
At this historical moment in the history of the USNA working class in particular, and the oppressed peoples of the world in general, our Party supports the stand of the Progressive Arab students in North America on the political significance of the so-called October War of 1973. In particular, we refer to its impact on the Palestinian question and Arab revolutionary movements.
Contrary to the fabricated lies of international imperialism, Arab local reaction and Israeli Zionist press, the October War was not a preemptive war as they want us to believe, but rather an imperialist one — the primary purpose of which was and still is to redivide the balance of the political and economical forces in the area along their reactionary, repressive, and imperialistic objectives. Furthermore, to continue and to step-up, under the policy of “detente”, the liquidation of all national liberation movements of the colonial and semi-colonial world; thereby, hoping to retard and to halt the struggle of the colonial peoples for national liberation from the yoke of international imperialism, feudalism and local reaction. History clearly shows that their hopes and counter-revolutionary attacks will inevitably fail.
The imperialists, through their lackeys and running dogs, launched their aggressive October War of 1973 primarily to: 1) strengthen local reaction and further the rise of fascism in the Middle East, in order for them to keep up their colonies and neo-colonies for the preservation of their desperately needed markets; 2) to transform the Palestinian question from a direct colonial question, that is the direct occupation of USNA imperialism and Israeli Zionism of the Palestinian nation, to a neo-colonial question, that is by manipulating their running dogs to submit to the idea of a “mini-Palestinian state” in the forthcoming “Geneva Peace Conference” under the leadership of the opportunist and petty-bourgeois elements of the heroic Palestinian resistance liberation movements.
We therefore propose that this historic Congress adopt the following democratic demands:
1. Total and categorical rejection of the imperialist inspired conspiracy of the “Geneva Peace Conference”.
2. An end to all restrictions enforced against the Palestinian liberation forces by the bordering reactionary Arab States–namely, those of Jordan, Syria, Egypt, and Lebanon.
3. Unconditional freedom of movement for all the Palestinian people in the Arab states; and an end to USNA imperialist and Israeli Zionist occupation of Palestine and the restoration of the democratic rights of the Palestinian people in the Palestinian nation.
4. Total rejection of the formation of a so-called “independent Palestinian state” to co-exist with Israeli Zionism; a free Palestinian nation can only be achieved through struggle against Israeli Zionism, USNA Imperialism and Arab local reaction; this struggle is and must form part of the world-wide proletarian socialist revolution.
5. To stop all the direct USNA imperialist and Israeli Zionist barbaric attacks against the toiling masses of the Palestinian and Lebanese people in Southern Lebanon, and their indirect violent attacks against the vast majority of the oppressed Arab masses.
LONG LIVE THE PALESTINIAN PEOPLES’ STRUGGLE AGAINST INTERNATIONAL IMPERIALISM, ISRAELI ZIONISM AND ARAB LOCALISM!
