Inasmuch as I do not share the opinion of G. V. Plekhanov, member of the Party Council and of the ed tonal board of the Central Organ, that it will be in the interest of Party unity at the present time to make a concession to the Martovites and co-opt the board of six, I hereby resign from the Party Council and from the editorial board of the Central Organ.

[1] Lenin resigned from the Party Council and the editorial board of the Central Organ after Plekhanov openly swung over to the Men sheviks and proposed co-opting to the Iskra editorial board all the former editors the Second Party Congress had rejected.
On November 5 (18) Lenin requested Plekhanov to insert in Iskra an announcement of his resignation from the editorial board (p. 113 of this volume). The changes in the membership of the board were announced in No. 53 of the new, Menshevik Iskra (November 25, 1903).
